Abstract

Therapists can be fiercely loyal to one model of therapy, denying the possibility that other models can assist with formulation or treatment. The world of couples therapy is no different. It could also be argued that sticking with one approach builds a level of expertise and depth. Our three panel members, Ruth Holt, Trish Purnell-Webb and Clare Rosoman are each certified and train in a different approach; Schema Therapy, Gottman Therapy and Emotionally Focussed Therapy respectively. Yet they also utilise insights and interventions from the other two models. This is an opportunity to hear from 3 expert trainers in the field of couples therapy about what they love about their preferred model and how they are influenced by the other two models under discussion. This panel will highlight what's different about each model, how the panel integrate other ideas and how the approaches compliment each other.
