Melbourne APS welcome and overview (Presentation)

Biography

Vinita has worn many hats in her multi-disciplinary professional career, including executive roles in industry, NGOs, small business, and academia. Passionate about applying research to inform the development of user-centred solutions which promote good health and wellbeing, Vinita has leveraged Fulbright, Endeavour Executive, and Cooperative Research Centre Scholarships to co-design and lead programs across the world, particularly in inclusive finance. Her current career trajectory sees Vinita wearing two part-time hats – she serves as the General Manager of Policy, Practice and Social Impact at the Australian Psychological Society (APS), while also nurturing Financial Resilience Australia (FRA), a social enterprise she founded to enhance financial health and wellbeing for those who are vulnerable to experiencing financial stress. As the GM of Policy, Practice, and Social Impact at the APS, Vinita is responsible for the design and implementation of evidence-based policies and projects which advocate for members and apply psychological science and practice to promote good mental health and wellbeing in Australia; as well as leading the Professional Advisory Service and Resources supporting members in their daily practice. Vinita has also served as a Director on many Board and Government-appointed Committees – she is currently a Board Director for the Mental Health Professionals Network (MHPN). With her FRA hat on, Vinita targets opportunities to build capacity for groups under-served by the mainstream financial services industry - including First Nations communities, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) groups, and refugees and other new arrivals.
