Biography
Camelia Wilkinson, FAPS FCEDP, is an endorsed Educational and Developmental Psychologist, an endorsed Psychology Board of Australia supervisor, a practicing psychologist and a researcher. Camelia has been practicing, teaching, and supervising (both students and practitioners) for over two decades, working in both public and private sector. She has been holding teaching positions within the Master's programs at the University of Melbourne and Australian Catholic University.
In private practice, Camelia works with diverse groups and individuals (young people, parents, teachers, and schools), across issues such as learning difficulties, developmental and neurodevelopmental disorders, and mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and OCD. She is currently undertaking PhD research at Swinburne University which began in 2021 focusing on support for autistic high school students transitioning to tertiary education. Camelia has presented at both International and National conferences including the International Congress of Psychology in Prague in 2024 and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) festival of Psychology in Gold Coast May 2025. Camelia has also delivered guest webinars and presentations on the provision of mental health support and transition support for autistic students. Camelia has been a contributor to the Springer “Handbook of Australian School Psychology: Integrating International Research, Practice, and Policy” (Thielking & Terjesen, 2017), and Routledge Taylor & Frances academic text ”How to be an Educational and Developmental Psychologist” (Allen et a., 2023).
Camelia has more recently worked in psychology leadership positions. She is the Chair of the College of Educational and Developmental Psychology (CEDP) and Chairs the National Committee for CEDP. She was the previous Chair of the Victoria branch committee and the Chair of the 2021 CEDP Virtual Conference. She worked with ACER between 2020 and 2021 as a member of the External Panel of Medical Experts, and has been involved in several panels and taskforces within the Australian Psychological Society (APS) between 2022 and 2025. This includes being a member of the Presidential Consultation Taskforce 2024 entrusted with drafting APS Policy Document on Consultation and Communication.
Camelia mentors and offers professional supervision to psychologists those going for endorsement and to professionals from various fields.
Camelia is a keen advocate of Psychological practice and Educational and Developmental Psychology work and is actively participating in work that helps promote the unique skills and expertise of this profession.
