Alliance for Organizational Psychology: Psychological Aspects of Leadership Challenges in a Rapidly Changing World
2:30 PM - 3:00 PMAbstract
This is The Alliance of Organiztional Psychologys panel session. Two more panelists will take part in the panel discussion.
Leaders today operate in an environment characterized by rapid technological transformation, geopolitical uncertainty, cultural complexity, and evolving organizational structures. These developments place increasing psychological demands on leaders’ cognitive, emotional, and social capacities, while reshaping expectations of effective leadership. This panel will explore the psychological dimensions of global leadership in the context of accelerating change, with a particular focus on how leaders perceive, interpret, and respond to complex, uncertain, and high-demand environments.
Particular attention will be given to leaders’ role in shaping psychosocial work conditions, including the creation of psychologically healthy, inclusive, and sustainable work environments. Leadership behaviors play a central role in influencing employees’ well-being, motivation, and performance, especially in hybrid, digital, and cross-cultural contexts.
The panel will also examine the role of leadership training and development programs in strengthening leaders’ psychological competencies and their capacity to foster healthy psychosocial work conditions. Evidence-based leadership training can enhance self-awareness, emotional regulation, communication, and supportive leadership behaviors, which are critical for promoting trust, engagement, and psychological safety. Such programs can also equip leaders with tools to recognize and address stress, prevent burnout, and create organizational climates that support both performance and well-being.
Bringing together researchers and practitioners, the panel aims to integrate psychological theory, empirical research, and practical experience from leadership development initiatives across different cultural and organizational contexts.
The panel will identify key challenges, share lessons learned, and outline future directions for psychological research and practice in global leadership development.
